Chancellor’s Scholar-In-Residence Fellowship

Under the aegis of the P3 Collaboratory at Rutgers-Newark, the fellowship is designed to support RU-N faculty in learning and implementing evidence-based pedagogies in their courses, while providing opportunities for the development and furtherance of their individual scholarly agendas.

Mentoring Matters

Advanced Theory & Practice of Teaching is a graduate-level credit-bearing course designed to empower and engage graduate students across disciplines to effectively teach at the college level. The course is designed to be highly interactive and practical, as it teaches students to apply effective teaching methods informed by the most recent cognitive research on how people learn.

Dissertation Boot Camp

The workshop is intended to provide participants with a quiet space to write without distractions or interruptions, in the company of a community of like-minded peers and experts on call, in order to make substantial progress on dissertation writing.

Faculty Learning Communities

Faculty Learning Communities are peer-led groups of 8–10 faculty, staff, and graduate students who meet monthly throughout the year to explore a topic or project connected to pedagogical innovation (teaching + learning), faculty development, or publicly-engaged scholarship.

National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity

Rutgers-Newark is an institutional member of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity(NCFDD). NCFDD is a nationally-recognized faculty development center providing professional development, training, and mentorship opportunities to more than 80,000 members from over 450 colleges and universities in the United States.

SMARTeaching

The SMARTeaching workshops are the perfect way to ensure that faculty at Rutgers-Newark and graduate students preparing for a career in academia are working SMARTer toward our collective student success goals!

Conceived by the University of Queensland, the 3MT® is an international public scholarship competition, challenging doctoral students to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. The competition cultivates students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills.

In support of this goal, the university's Office of Teaching Evaluation and Assessment Research (OTEAR) has developed a list of protocols and rubrics to support departments in developing departmental plans for the evaluation of teaching.
