ACUE EFFECTIVE TEACHING PRACTICES

About Effective Teaching Practices

Rutgers University-Newark has partnered with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), through the support of the Office of the Chancellor, to offer a select group of instructors the opportunity to earn ACUE’s Certification in Effective Teaching Practices in the Summer and Fall of 2026.

Effective Teaching Practices (ETP) transforms your teaching through evidence-based, expertly facilitated modules that foster intellectual curiosity and persistence. The course’s four curriculum areas provide you with new strategies and confidence in facilitating engaging learning experiences that improve student achievement and readiness for the future. Each area of the ETP curriculum translates into one of the following units:

  • Designing Learner-Centered Courses (5/26/26 - 7/5/26): Design cohesive, student-centered courses where learning outcomes, assessments, and activities align seamlessly, and your syllabus and grading policies empower students to achieve success.

  • Creating a Productive Learning Environment (7/6/26-8/16/26): Transform your classroom into a dynamic learning community and drive lasting academic success with proven strategies focused on engagement, motivation, and meaningful feedback.

  • Promoting Active Learning (9/7/26-10/18/26): Master teaching methods that deliver engaging lectures, effective note-taking, collaborative group work, and dynamic discussions to transform students into active participants and critical thinkers.

  • Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learners (10/26/26-12/13/26): Transform your teaching practice with strategies that inspire deeper learning, increase transparency, and empower students to take ownership of their learning.
