With the majority of Rutgers students learning remotely this semester, faculty need more than the technical basics to help students succeed — they must be fully prepared to use evidence-based pedagogical approaches that enhance students’ online experience. 


Thanks to continued support from the Chancellor’s Office, the P3 Collaboratory can provide a select group of faculty, teaching staff, and PhD / MFA students with the opportunity to actively improve their teaching practice through participation in a FREE 9-week course on fostering inclusivity created by the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) and facilitated by P3 faculty. 


Built on the same evidence-based practices used in our long-running Effective Teaching Practices program, this *new* micro-credential course, Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Online Learning Environment, includes training content on how to increase student engagement, how to embrace diversity online, and how to prepare students to meet academic challenges. 

Over a nine-week term (Oct 5th -Dec 7th), participants will cover the following topics:

  • Welcoming Students to Online Learning

  • Promoting Civil Online Learning

  • Engaging Underprepared Students in Online Learning

  • Helping Students Persist in Online Learning

  • Embracing Diversity in Online Learning

  • Checking for Student Understanding in Online Learning

  • Providing Useful Feedback for Online Learning

This course will be conducted fully online and feature both synchronous and asynchronous components. 

Eligibility & Expectations:  All Rutgers University-Newark teaching faculty, including Tenured/Tenure-Track, NTT, PTL, PhD, and MFA students are eligible to participate. Note that faculty who have completed the Effective Teaching Practices certificate program are eligible to apply to this course, the second in a new series of microcredentials on ONLINE pedagogy.

Ready to apply? Applications are due on September 23, 2020 by 5pm. Participants will need to attend a mandatory course orientation during the week of October 5th.
